OKR Master Certification FAQs
What is the total time commitment for the program?
The certification program is a combination of both live and self-paced sessions. The time commitment is approximately 10 hours, inclusive of 3-4 hours of self-paced e-learning and 5 live sessions. Live sessions range from 45 minutes to 120 minutes. Considerations should be made for possible additional time for the defense session preparation, exam preparation, and practice.
Will I have access to the Betterworks technology?
This program does not require access to the Betterworks platform. However, as a part of the curriculum, a Betterworks training environment will be available for 60 days. Full access to the Betterworks platform will require a subscription.
How was the curriculum developed?
The focus of our program is on the application of OKR methodology. (Writing, monitoring, and reflecting on OKRs individually, then applied to teams and organizations.) We use the principles from John Doerr’s book, Measure What Matters, as the foundation of our program. We use Betterworks software as a supporting tool in your OKR learning journey, but it is not the focus of our program. Our program is not a technical certification on our product, but we do want you to get acclimated to how our software facilitates the creation of OKRs and cross-team/org alignment.
What should I expect in the live sessions?
There are 5 live sessions of varying length and content. The Program Kickoff is 45 minutes. We then follow up your online coursework with a group discussion on how to put OKRs in Action, which is 90 minutes. Following the group discussion, you will complete an OKR Master’s Defense, where you will present and defend a high-quality OKR in a small group of 5, for 60 minutes. We then pivot to applying OKR concepts to teams, 90 minutes, and then a few days later we wrap up with applying OKR concepts to organizations, 2 hours. During the last live session, we also take about 15 minutes to prepare for the comprehensive exam. All of our live sessions are interactive and require participation in group discussions and/or demonstration of OKR mastery.
